Do you love shopping for all of your necessities online? Shopping online is fast and easy, and you can find almost everything you need, including your daily supplements and vitamins.
When you’re buying supplements online, though, you should be cautious. These are going into your body, so you don’t want to buy the wrong things. Are you making any supplement buying mistakes without knowing it?
We’re here to help. Keep reading for a few of the most common online supplement buying mistakes so you can be more careful.
1. Not Reading Reviews
Online customer reviews make online shopping so much easier; why would you neglect them?
You want to look for reviews in two places. First, check the reviews for the website overall. Have people had any problems with quality, shipping, damaged products, or customer service? These reviews will often be on a Google reviews page.
Then, if those look good, make sure to read the reviews for each product that you plan on buying. Just because a website is good doesn’t mean that all of their products will be what you need. Dig a little deeper before you make your purchase.
2. Not Checking Ingredient Lists
Ingredients matter when you’re shopping for vitamins. Check the labels on products to see what kinds of things are actually in the tablets.
All vitamin tablets have a few extra things to hold them together, but do your research and decide what is and isn’t right for your body. Then match those things up with the unnecessary things on the ingredients lists.
3. Price Shopping
We all love a good deal, but is a good deal always best for us?
There’s nothing wrong with looking for a sale. Vitamins and supplements are going into our bodies, though, so we want to make sure that everything is safe and high-quality before we make sure that it’s cheap.
You might find vitamins that are full of harmful ingredients and fillers for cheap, but wouldn’t you rather have something better?
4. Ignoring Dosages
How much of each vitamin does the supplement contain? Not all tablets, capsules, and powders are the same.
Sometimes, for example, you’ll find a protein powder that has 20 grams of protein in one scoop for 20 dollars. You may find another one with 15 grams of protein in 2 scoops for 15 dollars. While you might think you’re making the better choice with the second because of the cheaper price, you’re actually better off with the more expensive one because of the higher nutrient content.
This is true with all types of vitamins and supplements. Check quantities first.
5. Buying Things You Don’t Need
Sometimes we go online and find ourselves with carts full of things that we didn’t intend to buy. With supplements, this is both dangerous and unnecessary.
While uncommon, you can overdose on supplements and get ill. Only buy what your body is asking for!
For example, during the winter, many of us need vitamin D tablets to carry us through the dark months, but we may not all need complex multivitamins or large protein supplements.
Buy what you need, not what looks flashy.
