Aggies fall to No. 1 Alabama in thrilling fashion, 27-19

Even though that may be Alabama's only current win over a top 25 team (compared to Clemson who has three such wins), the dominance of the team wearing crimson and white has not disappeared since that opening game.

With senior defensive end Da'Shawn Hand expected to miss several weeks with a strained MCL, Alabama was in desperate need for someone to step in and replace the former five-star's production at defensive end. The Aggie offense very almost turned that into six points, but Kellen Mond threw a pick to Minkah Fitzpatrick at the 1-yard-line. But ever since Johnny Manziel graduated, Alabama hasn't had any reason to be scared of Texas A&M.

The Aggies' running game was similarly held in check, as Mond, Keith Ford and Trayveon Williams combined for 40 carries for 71 yards. A 44-yard field goal from Alabama kicker Andy Pappanastos made extended the lead back to 27-12 with 2:09 to play.

Texas A&M update: Offensive coordinator Noel Mazzone has for the most part kept the swift legs of freshman quarterback Kellen Mond under wraps. But A&M has Florida, Mississippi State and Auburn on the horizon and could lose all three. Junior gamebreaking receiver Christian Kirk is only averaging 11.5 yards per catch while hauling in 23 passes (including four scores) but has been superb with a 30.2 kickoff return average to go with one touchdown. "We've got a really great, talented front and we play a lot of great, talented fronts". However, the run game and play selection (at times) was absolutely unacceptable.

"Whatever happened in the hurricane happened and it's a bad thing and we want to support everybody every way we can and we certainly did that as much as we could", Saban said.

The Aggies (4-2, 2-1 SEC), who entered the game as 26½-point underdogs, made the game interesting, but in the end freshman quarterback Kellen Mond couldn't make enough plays to topple a team as talented as Alabama.

Alabama needed only four plays to cover 43 yards. Alabama quarterbacks have only been sacked once in the last three games.

Nick Saban has proven that he is not afraid to open the season against a top school from a Power Five conference almost every year.

While the white towels were waving and Kyle Field was shaking, Damien Harris slipped through a hole in the Texas A&M defensive line.

The ball caromed out of the end zone and the result was a safety. Hurts is better this season at throwing the ball down the field on extended plays. Texas A&M had the same amount of first downs as Alabama, 16 and the Aggies had 114 more passing yards than the Tide.

Unfortunately for A&M, the Aggie offense was in a bigger funk, going scoreless on seven straight possessions including two drives that ended with lost fumbles and two that ended with turnovers on downs. He rushed for 70 yards on 12 carries with a long run of 17 yards against SC. Calvin Ridley only has a thigh bruise. This is treating the Aggies like they're some out of conference team the Tide should bury, and I have a little more respect than that.
