Rookie Watson leads Texans to National Football League away win

Posted September 15, 2017

Come Thursday night, the 29-year-old will be aiming for a much better showing. Hoyer wasn't very good, and Savage is worse.

Oh, did we mention the Texans managed just one touchdown last week? Because make no mistake, these offenses were bad on Sunday.

The Bengals put on their own shitshow last week against the Baltimore Ravens and were shutout 20-0. But Houston committed four turnovers, which led directly to 17 Jaguars points-and indirectly might have cost them 20.

The Bengals have now gone eight full quarters to start the season without scoring a touchdown at Paul Brown Stadium.

Houston appears to be making a change at quarterback.

Both teams are looking for their first win of the season after coming off home season-opening losses.

While he did take the team down the field on the first possession, it was somewhat of a flawed drive.

"The decision to go with Deshaun had more to do with could we find a spark, could we find somebody that maybe could make a play, that could escape the pocket", O'Brien said.

Back to Houston: Adding injury to insult, the team had a whopping five players in the concussion protocol, including all three tight ends.

Having led the team down the field, he completed a 94-yard drive by rushing for a spectacular 49-yard touchdown that made several of his fellow National Football League stars take notice.

If the Bengals get another horrifying performance from Dalton, we could be heading to AJ McCarron getting some playing time soon, and that may not be much of an upgrade for the Bengals. Watson was 12 of 23 for 101 yards, a TD, interception and fumble against the Jaguars; Savage finished 7 of 13 for 62 yards and two fumbles.

Dalton, who was intercepted four times on the day, became the first Bengals quarterback to throw four picked in a season opener since Jeff Blake in 1995.

Fantasy owners, if no one else, want to see how this is going to shake out.

Also, per the Texans, that was the longest rush by a quarterback in the franchise's history. After a punt, they ran one more play with 2 seconds left that didn't get far. But will Hill vulture goal-line carries? When the ball was snapped, he was often already on the move to get off the line of scrimmage in a flash.

A Cincinnati Bengals fan watches from the stands as the team trails by a point in the second half of an NFL football game against the Houston Texans, Thursday, Sept. 14, 2017, in Cincinnati. As a result of Savage's season debut, the Texans will have rookie QB Deshaun Watson start on Thursday.
