Cricket comes home to Pakistan, with help from Tahir

In what is being dubbed as the revival of cricket in Pakistan, the World Eleven side shall take on the hosts in the first of the three-match T20 series at the Gaddafi Stadium on Tuesday. The series will have three T20 internationals beginning from September 12.

Cricket-lovers in Pakistan and around the world will hope that the Independence Cup will be a success and open the door for more global tours to Pakistan in the future.

Pakistan XI are all excited and raring to take on the World XI in the opener of Independece Day being played this evening in Lahore's Qaddafi stadium. The first match of the series begins today on 12 September 2017 as a night match at 7 pm local time, 2 pm GMT.

The head of the ICC's Pakistan Task Team (PTT) Giles Clarke revealed all the background work that went into putting Pakistan back on global cricket map.

The series was given worldwide status by the ICC and Amla expects the home team to be a formidable challenge.

Similarly, West Indies have agreed to visit the country for a three-match T20I series later this November.

Security has dramatically improved in Pakistan in recent years, but militant groups retain the ability to carry out spectacular attacks and officials are taking no chances. In a few years' time when I look back at my career, it would be nice to look at ways where you had your footprint in the game of cricket whether it would be in your own team as captain.

All-rounder Aamer Yamin, batsman Umar Amin and spinner Mohammad Nawaz will sit out during the first T20.

Ten Sports and PTV Sports have the broadcasting rights of Pakistan vs World XI T20 series in Pakistan.
