This is the start of a project we have now completed to improve our heating system in the sitting room. We wanted our wood stove both to give even more heat and we wanted the room to have some warmth in the morning. Although our fuel is free, being untreated pallets, we also wanted to be more economical with it. I designed and made the storage heater from stone taken from our garden and to sit on a strawcrete pad, with the straw sourced from our local organic dairy farm. This is the beginning of a project, now we have completed it for the first time. Improving our heating system in the living room, we wanted our wood stove, at the same time, provide a more even heat and we wanted to keep a little warm in the morning. Although our wood is free, being untreated pallets, we also wanted to be more economical with it. I designed and built heating storage using stone from our garden and sitting on an insulation mat with straws from our local organic dairy farm. There is a lot of information to share, so break it down into sections, with the first film about insulation board fabrication.
