The Pittsburgh Penguins close out another Cup title

Posted June 26, 2017

Carl Hagelin (HAG'-lihn) sealed the win by scoring into an empty net with 14 seconds left.

The victory marks the Penguins' fifth Stanley Cup win.

Phil Kessel, once the star of a downtrodden Toronto Maple Leafs team, has back-to-back titles.

"You know, he's arguably the best player of his generation, and he's a guy that just knows how to win".

The Penguins scored the two crucial goals in the last two minutes of the final period.

Sheary made his National Hockey League debut on December 16, 2015, and appeared in 44 regular season games with Pittsburgh in 2015-16 as a rookie, logging 10 points.

The decisive moment of the match was Patric Hornqvist's goal at 18:25 in the third period when the Swedish worldwide somehow managed to hit the spot from an incredibly tough position.

"He could feel that we were getting close to winning the Cup and that was the most important game of the season and he played like it". Early in the second period, the Predators appeared to score a goal to put them up 1-0, but the goal was waived off.

And that was it, 2-0 for the Penguins.

The kids weren't the only ones who got to celebrate with the back-to-back champs. When he was needed the most, when the finals were at the critical stage, Murray displayed some fantastic performances.

The Detroit Red Wings were the last team to win back-to-back championships in 1997 and 1998.

Penguins captain Sidney Crosby, who was awarded the Conn Smythe Trophy as the most valuable player of the playoffs, said his team had worked hard to keep improving with each game.

Though held without a point on Sunday night, Crosby finished second on the team with 27 points (eight goals and 19 assists).

So, are you sure you want to retire when you're still this good, Matt?

Our congratulations to the 2017 NHL Champions, the Pittsburgh Penguins.
