Monday's Arsenal transfer rumours: Alexis Sanchez for Sergio Aguero?

Posted June 26, 2017

Talks with Arsenal have stalled so far, with the Gunners unwilling to sell to a domestic rival, but the Daily Star claim that City have sweetened the deal by offering Aguero in exchange.

"The relationship between Aguero and the boss is great".

Arsenal are conscious of the fact that Sanchez only has one year remaining on his contract and will be able to negotiate a free transfer come January.

Arsenal have been linked with Aguero in the past, though, and despite a reluctance to see Sanchez go it could be an agreeable solution were they to get the Argentine in return - perhaps even more so given that main target Alexandre Lacazette could cost upwards of £57m. Despite scoring 33 goals in 45 appearances in all competitions last season, question marks have been raised over Aguero's position in the starting line-up under Pep Guardiola moving forward.

Playing in a number 10 role just behind Gabriel Jesus, the City no.10 netted a brace in the 5-0 thrashing of Watford on the final day of the season and looks set to play a vital role in ensuring Guardiola's side challenge for silverware next term.

It would make a lot of sense on paper, but Aguero will naturally have to be convinced about a move more so than Sanchez given Arsenal's lack of Champions League football next season having failed to finish in the top four last season.

He said: "I feel very happy here so I will stay here until the end of my contract".

PSG are undertaking a major rebuild this summer after losing the Ligue 1 title to AS Monaco and are determined to land a marquee signing.
