'I did not make, and do not have' Comey tapes

Trump voiced concern in a TV interview on Fox News on Friday about what he said was the close relationship between former FBI Director James Comey and Mueller, who was named to take over the Russian Federation investigation after Trump fired Comey.

Mr Comey has suggested that the tweet prompted him to ask an associate to release damaging information to The New York Times.

Trump's suggestion that there are conflicts of interest in this case, especially given the fact that James Comey would have no reason to lie under oath and risk years in prison for doing so, seems like yet another falsehood from the President in order to distract from the main target, himself.

Lawmakers investigating allegations of Russian meddling in the United States 2016 election had asked the White House for any such recordings of Comey, whom Trump fired on May 9. My story was always the truth.

Shortly after Fox & Friends went off the air, White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer joined Fox News for a live interview.

Added Gingrich in an interview with AP: "I think he was, in his way, instinctively trying to rattle Comey". Comey. He is friends with James, he has hired attorneys that were party of Hillary Clinton's foundation, gave money to President Obama and Hillary Clinton's campaign. "That combination of things I had never experienced before, but it led me to believe I gotta write it down and I gotta write it down in a detailed way".

"By talking about something like tapes made Comey in particular think to himself 'I better be honest, I better tell the truth, '" Spicer said in the Fox News interview.

Relations between the White House and the press continued to deteriorate on Friday as the White House communications team prohibited cameras from filming the White House press briefing. Mueller is now said to be investigating the finances and business dealings of Trump's son-in-law, Jared Kushner.

Special Counsel Robert Mueller departs after briefing members of the US Senate on his investigation into potential collusion between Russian Federation and the Trump campaign on Capitol Hill in Washington, US, June 21, 2017. But they're not known to be especially close friends, and legal experts say whatever connection they do have doesn't come close to meriting Mueller's removal.

Comey testified earlier this month that he was angered by Trump's remarks criticizing his management of the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

Comey testified June 8 before the Senate Intelligence Committee that Trump had pressured him to drop the FBI's investigation into former National Security Advisor Michael Flynn and demanded his loyalty. "So I think maybe you'll need to do a little investigative reporting to determine that, but I don't think it will be that hard", he said.

Adam Schiff, the committee's top Democrat, said in a statement on Thursday that Mr Trump's Twitter comment stopped short of denying that the White House had tapes or recordings, and said the White House must respond in writing.
