The two inmates, caught in Tennessee on Thursday, are Donnie Russell Rowe, white male 6'1, 181 pounds, blue eyes, brown hair, and Ricky Dubose, white male 6'1, 140 pounds, blue eyes, brown hair.

Baldwin State Prison transfer sergeants Christopher Monica and Curtis Billue were slain.

Law enforcement officers were stationed along local Interstate 85 exits on Thursday after reports that two escaped inmates sought in the killing of guards in Georgia could possibly be traveling the road in this direction, although there was no solid evidence to confirm that suspicion, authorities said.

"People say this is the best possible outcome, but unfortunately, there is no good outcome because we have two dead correctional officers", Markley said.

Ricky Dubose, 24, and Donnie Rowe, 43, have been captured, officials said on Thu., June 15, 2017.

Escaped inmates Ricky Dubose, left, and Donnie Russell Rowe. Earlier that day, the two men had stormed into an elderly couple's home, put guns to their heads and tied them up with a belt, authorities say. In Tennessee yesterday, they led police on a 10-mile vehicle chase that ended in a wreck and gunshots.

Authorities say Dubose and Rowe escaped after killing two prison guards during a bus transport in Georgia. It was found in a heavily wooded area less than two miles from the home that was burglarized by the escapees and about 1,000 feet from the Lowe's parking lot where the Putnam County Sheriff held an evening press conference.

A tip from a couple who had been held hostage by escaped Georgia inmates and help from armed citizens led to their capture in Rutherford County Thursday night. "We will do everything in our power to support their loved ones, and we will not forget their sacrifice and service", he added. He called them violent repeat offenders and extremely risky, having taken the guards' 9 mm pistols.

Law enforcement from the U.S. Marshals Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force, FBI and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation had been tracking them since, and authorities had been offering a $130,00 reward for their capture.

After crashing the vehicle, the two men fled on foot and came upon a home after running through the woods.

According to sources with the Jones County, GA Sheriff's Office, the two inmates committed a home invasion of an elderly couple and stole a vehicle. Rowe has been in prison since 2002 with convictions including armed robbery, possession of a firearm during a crime and aggravated assault.

Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal applauded the "tireless efforts" of law enforcement but also turned his thoughts to the families of the two officers, saying their pain remains.

Monica, 42, a sergeant, worked for the department for nearly eight years and leaves a wife.

The two men were cellmates and friends in prison, and may have planned their escape; however, the bus ride Tuesday morning was unscheduled, officials said.
