Brazil star Paulinho says he has an offer to move to Barcelona

The Brazilian has made 87 appearances for the Chinese Super League side, scoring 24 goals and providing eight assists.

Barca know Paulinho's Guangzhou Evergrande deal carries a €40 million buyout clause and they're willing to match it.

"[Barcelona] contacted my agent".

Paulinho said: "I'm very happy with my life and career at the moment and it's hard to make a decision. I need to weigh up a lot of things before making a decision", he said.

The Brazil global, who was at White Hart Lane between 2013 and 2015, is now plying his trade in the Chinese Super League with Guangzhou Evergrande. I think, first of all, the moment that I am living, the life that I and my wife took here in China.

"Secondly I've gained self-confidence here".

Guangzhou secured the top place of the half season with one round ahead, while Hebei, which was just promoted into the CSL last season, ranked third temporarily. I'm really proud that a great club like Barcelona are interested in my situation - there is no price for that, " he said.

Those new regulations see clubs charged a 100 percent levy by the Chinese Football Association on transfer fees of more than 45 million yuan ($6.58 million) for foreign players, with the additional fee redirected into youth development.

"I have no deadline to give an answer; I have been talking to my agent daily". There is no deadline for me to say yes or no, even because there has to be a conversation between Barcelona and Guangzhou, but the main answer is mine.

Such has been the positive way in which he has settled in the Far East both on and off the pitch, it sounds as though it will be a hard decision for the 28-year-old to move his family again, but when Barcelona come calling, surely it's impossible to turn down. "If I decide to leave, Evergrande can find a replacement".

Paulinho scored a hat trick as Brazil beat Uruguay 4-1 in March.
