The 1LE shares the same supercharged 6.2-litre, 485kW/881Nm LT4 engine as the Camaro ZL1, but features track-driving tweaks such as fully adjustable suspension, front dive planes and carbon fibre rear wing, and summer-only Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar 3R tyres.

When the 2018 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 1LE was introduced earlier this year, it was immediately expected that the 1LE version would get around the famed Nürburgring Nordschleife. Slower cars than the ZL1 1LE include the ZL1 (7:29.6), Shelby GT350R Mustang (7:32.19), Z/28 (7:37.47), Ferrari Enzo (7:25.21), as well as the Maserati MC12 (7:24.29). In comparing videos between the ZL1 and ZL1 1LE, it seems that the extra downforce may have cost a bit of top-end speed, downforce isn't free after all.
Seeking the ultimate track-ready pony vehicle, Chevrolet took the Camaro ZL1 to the limit by shedding more weight, fitting an advanced Formula One inspired suspension, and installing a monstrous aerodynamic package. The ZL1 1LE's time would put it 14th on the overall fastest production auto lap list. That represents an nearly incomprehensible improvement of more than a second per mile around the 12.9-mile German track.
