Whole Food shares keep rising, leading to bidding war speculation

It is doubtful that beer distribution was the driving force behind the acquisition of Whole Foods, but it will have a material impact on the industry and the relationship between the three tiers. But the good news for shoppers and ultimately for the health of the company is that Jeff Bezos, the Amazon king, won't make any rash moves to justify the huge purchase of Whole Foods to Amazon shareholders. However, despite launching its Amazon Fresh food delivery service over a decade ago, the company accounts for less than 0.5 percent of grocery spending in the U.S. today.
