But, the Champions Trophy final match defeat though got the Pakistani fans over the moon.

To avoid unnecessary and unwelcomed tensions, security personnel were deployed outside cricketer M. S. Dhoni's residence soon after the match.

There was no way back for India, who collapsed to 158 all out with almost 20 overs of the match as they suffered their heaviest defeat by runs in 129 ODIs against Pakistan.

Earlier in the day, the Uttarakhand Government has imposed Section 144 in Dehradun's Clock Tower and nearby area.

Pakistan's Sarfraz Ahmed (L) celebrates with teammates after taking the final catch, confirming their victory over India after the ICC Champions Trophy final cricket match between India and Pakistan at The Oval in London on June 18, 2017.

With the exception of Zimbabwe's tour two years ago, Pakistan have had to play all of their "home" matches outside their own country since a 2009 terror attack on Sri Lanka's team bus in Lahore.

Pakistan bowler Hasan Ali won the 2017 ICC Champions Trophy Golden Ball award for the top bowler of the tournament.

"Players like Fakhar Zaman, Shadab [Khan], Hasan Ali, all these players deserve to be recognised for their performances; that they were playing their first ICC tournament and nobody expected us to perform the way we did with a young team".

"Victory in the final has its own significance, it has added to the confidence of the little-known players who performed superbly and has given a new identity to the team after losing to India", they said.

Pakistan had to earn their win and they made us make mistakes. Mohammad Amir and Fakhar Zaman starred for Pakistan in the final.

"Pakistan has unearthed new heroes in a span of 14 days", said Afridi, "From Fakhar Zaman to Hassan Ali and Shadab Khan, Pakistan has shown the world its rich talent and pedigree".

"You can always look at things in hindsight, we've always tried to do our best in certain situations, sometimes the opposition does play very well".

The victory was Pakistan's first worldwide 50-over trophy since lifting the 1992 World Cup.

In the ODI player rankings, India opener Rohit Sharma, who scored 123 not out in the semifinal, has gained three slots to reach 10th position while pace bowlers Bhuvneshwar Kumar (up four places to joint-19th) and Jasprit Bumrah (up 19 places to 24th) are the others to gain.

Amir took out all three of India's premier batsmen, bowled a maiden for figures of 6-2-16-3, then watched as his teammates mopped up.

"So we just had to keep believing and keep them trusting the techniques and keep them trusting their game plan and keep them trusting their roles, and that's why I'm incredibly proud of that dressing room because they did that".
