WhatsApp introduces 'Pinned Chats' to Android

Posted May 19, 2017

Facebook-owned popular social messaging app WhatsApp has finally rolled out it's much awaited "pinned chats" feature for all its Android users.

As things now are, the app is now being rolled out to Android users and this update should be available to download within the next few days. Tap the pin icon and the chat will move right to the top of the chats.

Now, you will not need to scroll down numerous chats to get to your favourite one. Users can now pin up to three of the most important group or individual chats to the top of their chat list for easy access - simply tap and hold a chat, and then tap the pin icon at the top of your screen, according to a recent press note.

iOS users will have to wait a bit longer.

Unfortunately, the pin chats feature now support only three chats after which it shows a notification that "You can only pin up to 3 chats" if you try to pin another chat.

This means that regardless of new messages that roll in, those chats will always remain at the top. After doing so, a pin icon will appear on screen with an option to delete, mute or archive appearing. Basically, you can pin a post to the top of the page, for everyone to see. You are also allowed to un-pin WhatsApp chats whenever you please, by long pressing the option, and disabling the Pin button. Choose this and the chat will move down automatically. That's not it, people have also suggested as to what feature they would like to see next on WhatsApp.
