"We are really seeking help from this person, known as Nicole, who in the early hours of the morning collected this young girl and took her to the Asylum Seekers Centre", Detective Haddow said.

She met the man who held her against her will in January and came to Australia with him via Paris, in a journey that lasted days, in early April.

It is believed the woman's name is Nicole and she drives a small red auto, possibly a hatchback.

She told them their daughters had been "advised to avoid commenting on the situation amongst friends and especially on social media".

"Collaboration between the Australian Federal Police and U.S. law enforcement officials led to the girl being located in New York State in the company of a 39-year-old man on Friday, 12 May", a police spokesperson said.

The girl managed to escape and was picked up by a woman who drove her to a center for asylum seekers.

A teenage girl from Guinea was held in a Sydney home against her will for weeks and used as a sex slave.

After consultation with Sydney's University of Technology anti-slavery unit, the girl was taken to the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital for treatment and later placed into the care of the NSW Department of Family and Community Services.

The AFP Human Trafficking Unit is still trying to determine when the girl arrived in Australia and identify the man who brought her here.

Specialist detectives from the NSW Police Sex Crimes Squad have also formed Strike Force Stockall to investigate the circumstances surrounding her ordeal.

A 16-year-old Aussie girl who disappeared from Sydney's north shore in April has been found living with a convicted killer in the United States, after he allegedly spent months grooming her on social media.

A Sydney teenager who disappeared from one of the city's most affluent suburbs last month has been rescued from a convicted killer.
