Trump family kicks off Easter egg roll

Today's annual White House Easter Egg Roll brings a day of celebration for a busy first family, as an estimated 21,000 guests descend upon the White House's South Lawn.

Later, while greeting members of the crowd, Trump responded to a question about his message for North Korea in light of this past weekend's failed missile test. It was just made smaller, down from the 35,000 people who got tickets previous year, but retaining such activities as a reading nook, an area to send messages to US troops and an entertainment stage.

While standing on the Truman balcony, accompanied by Melania, their 11-year-old son Barron and a large white rabbit, Donald forgot to put his hand on his heart during the National Anthem. There's also the notable lack of families of color and the PAAS-sponsored White House bunny. For the annual event, the White House lawn is opened to thousands of families and their small children to wander about and participate in a series of activities. "We're right on track", he said, speaking of the nation's strength under fewer than 100 days of his leadership. However, unlike the biggest celebrity guests during President Barrack Obama's administration such as Justin Bieber, Beyoncé and Ariana Grande, only the Easter Bunny and Trump himself were the star attractions during the recently concluded Easter Egg Roll, Politico reports.

At one point, Trump signed a child's hat, only to toss it into a crowd of people.

"I'm really concerned for the Trump people, because they have failed to fill some really vital posts, and this thing is all hands on deck", Bates said. "The focus this year is on the quality of the children's experience", said a White House spokeswoman.

"I just want to thank first lady Melania Trump", he said.

The Easter Egg roll dates all the way back to 1878 when President Rutherford Hayes was in the White House.

During the event, the president and first lady wrote letters that will be sent to soldiers serving oversees.

The Easter Egg Roll is one of the largest White House events of any presidency.

Melania and Barron, who traveled to Washington from NY - where they are living until the 10-year-old finishes the school year - appeared with Trump, accompanied by a human-sized white Easter rabbit, on the Truman Balcony to address the invited guests.
