The end of the war between Dwayne Johnson and Vin Diesel?

Posted April 20, 2017

The Fate of the Furious has numerous returning stars like Vin Diesel, Dwayne Johnson, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson and Ludacris, but has added some new elements behind the camera in director F. Gary Gray and in front of the camera with Charlize Theron. It was the No. 1 film everywhere, website BoxOfficeMojo.com reported.

Reports have it that "The Fate of the Furious" managed to make $100.2 million in the U.S. for its opening which is $47 million short compared to the $147.2 million opening of its predecessor "Furious 7" that was released in 2015. But it had its share of winning moments and scenes which cement its status as one of the strongest entries in the enduring Fast & Furious franchise. They can be seen on many occasions arguing sarcastically and laughing with each other throughout the movie.

While the latest "Fast" opened strongly, the manic muscle-car-filled film - with megastars Vin Diesel and Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson - made almost a third less in its first weekend than the previous "Fast and Furious" chapter, which scored $147.2 million.

The Fast and the Furious seems to be Universal's most valuable movie franchise right now, as the series narrowly beat the worldwide opening weekend record previously set by Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

The "Furious" has left behind the "Force" in terms of earning big bucks! That sets it up to beat Star Wars: The Force Awakens, whose 2015 worldwide release brought in US$529 million, according to comScore, which compiles ticketing data.

The Fate of the Furious is directed by F. Gary Gray (Straight Outta Compton) and features a cast that includes Vin Diesel, Dwayne Johnson, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Ludacris, Eva Mendes, Elsa Pataky, Lucas Black, Nathalie Emmanuel, Kurt Russell, Kristofer Hivju, Scott Eastwood, Helen Mirren and Charlize Theron.

As Celebrity Insider readers know, The Fate Of The Furious was predicted to have an extraordinary performance at the box office this weekend.

Latest developments have confirmed that Fast and Furious 9 is already being planned for 2019 and a 10th instalment is set for a 2021 release.

The Fate of the Furious has its share of flaws which made it miss the mark from being the best movie in the series.
