China says Ivanka Trump trademark requests handled properly

Ivanka Trump was appointed assistant to the president last month, after previously saying she would not join her father's administration.

The AP said three had been filed, including one for jewelry.

The home has eight bedrooms and 10 full bathrooms over 15,000 square feet, with a library, two kitchens (one outfitted for catering), a billiards room, a wine cellar an elevator and a pool with a cabana, as well as staff quarters.

Japan also approved trademarks in Ivanka Trump's name in February that included footwear, handbags and other apparel, records show. The Trump Organization itself has also secured trademark approval from the country. Those trademarks could become final within several months. Ivanka must recuse herself from government issues that affect her clothing and accessories business. In a statement to CNN, Abigail Klem, president of Ivanka Trump's company, claims the awarding of trademarks are simply the "normal course of doing business".

"It is our responsibility to diligently protect our trademark", she said.

When she first announced the ethics steps through Gorelick in The New York Times, it was reported that the Ivanka trust "prohibits her brand from reaching agreements with foreign governments or state-owned enterprises". "For their own sake, and the country's, Ivanka and Jared should consider stepping away from China matters".

A poll has found that a majority of voters feel the roles being played by Ivanka Trump, President Donald Trump's daughter, and her husband Jared Kushner in the White House are inappropriate.

"She has put her business into a trust, but it's a trust being run by her family; it's not a true blind trust". General foreign policy doesn't count, she explained, adding that "in between, you have to assess it case-by-case".

Trump's previous role as an informal adviser to President Trump had already raised questions. Donald Trump had been embroiled in trademark disputes with Chinese companies for more than a decade; however, winning the presidential election seems to have granted him an extra degree of protection in the murky area of Chinese trademark law, causing some experts to voice their concerns over how foreign governments could exert influence over the USA president through how they deal with his beloved brand.

And her clothing line isn't even the only asset of Ivanka's that we need to worry about.

Federal employees such as Trump and her husband, Jared Kushner, who is also a senior adviser to the president, are barred from making government decisions that benefit their financial holdings.
