Auburn's 36th Annual Easter Egg Hunt set for Saturday

Throughout the years, many Easter traditions have been formed, but perhaps one of the most popular is the Easter egg hunt for young children to enjoy. The egg hunt starts at 9:30 a.m.

Steve Dube, chair of the annual Easter egg hunt put on by Welland Volunteer Fire Company No. 1, says the 22nd annual event takes place rain or shine from 10 3 p.m., with a total of 10 hunts throughout the day.

Christians in Assiniboia and surrounding communities will be celebrating Easter on Sunday, April 16.

Park Naturalists will hide camouflaged eggs filled with nature clues along two of the park's family friendly trails. The lucky hunter will win a special gift presented by acting Mayor Janice Elkerton.

On Friday night, adults across the area will have a chance to go back in time and compete in an Easter egg hunt. Starts at 11 a.m., and is for children ages 1-8.

He's got big floppy ears, a fluffy tail and plenty of chocolate eggs in his basket - the Easter Bunny is making a special appearance this weekend to Mount Mainstreet. Don't be late, or you'll miss out, and be sure to bring a basket for all your goodies. The event was well attended a year ago, and Levi Tarbell, director of the Penn Activity Center and Student Activities, expected more of the same this time around. Cost will run between $4 and $10, depending on what you want to participate in.

The Church of New Beginnings will host a free Easter Egg Hunt and barbeque.

Children from toddlers to fourth graders are invited to attend for a story, singing, crafts and an egg hunt. The Easter Bunny will be available for pictures.

"According to some sources, the Easter bunny first arrived in America in the 1700s with German immigrants who settled in Pennsylvania and transported their tradition of an egg-laying hare called "Osterhase" or 'Oschter Haws, ' " the website said.

In Cyrstal Beach, the Downtown Ridgeway BIA is hosting their hunt starting at 12 noon till 2 p.m.

On Easter Sunday there will be a sunrise service at 6:15 a.m in front of the church and Easter service at 9:30 a.m.

Rockingham Christian Church and the Salem Recreation Department will hold a community Easter egg hunt at the Soule School on Saturday.
