Gas Prices On The Rise In The Triad

Drivers are seeing higher gas prices at pumps in New Jersey.

The national average gas price on Friday was $2.38, also up 7 cents from last week. The DFW areas are paying as much as $2.25 per gallon.

Triple-A analysts say the Arizona fuel prices likely will continue to increase as refinery maintenance wraps up and more expensive summer-blend gasoline becomes available. Average prices for regular rose by a nickel or more in a majority of states.

"This year we could be looking at another 20 to 40 cents from where we stand today", Patrick Dehaan with GasBuddy Said.

Oil prices still remain well within their recent range of around $50 a barrel, according to Mark Vitner, a Charlotte-based senior economist at Wells Fargo Securities.

Nationally, gas costs typically rise in April, and that's seen in the Carolinas, where there's been a gradual uptick in prices since the end of March, according to Tiffany Wright, spokesperson for AAA Carolinas.

Including the change in gas prices in Texas during the past week, prices on Saturday were 25.5 cents per gallon higher than the same day a year ago and are 2.4 cents per gallon higher than a month ago, according to AAA Texas Weekend Gas Watch.

The national average gas price on Friday was $2.38, also up 7 cents from last week. And Delaware's $2.28 is up 35.6 cents from past year.
