What to expect at WWDC 2017

Posted March 20, 2017

However, this does not coincide with the March releases of previous years. This year the company is expected to launch the latest versions of iOS and macOS.

The new tablets have various other rumors attached to them, such as quad speakers on the 10.5-inch model, and a 12MP rear camera and True Tone display on the 12.9-inch variant.

Meanwhile, the smaller iPad Pro 2 is rumored to be getting announced as early as next week. However, Apple normally makes its invitation 10 days prior to an event, hence, the iPad Pro 2 might be revealed on a press release rather than being part of any upcoming event in the following days.

As we approach next week, stay tuned to MBEDDED for more on what to expect from Apple regarding the new iPads. Taiwanese website DigiTimes claims Apple is planning to unveil the 10.5-inch iPad Pro at an early April event to "mark the inauguration of Apple's new headquarters in California", but it is unlikely that the supply chain sources cited would know this specific information.

Some iPad deals that are now up for grabs via local carriers offer up to $150 off and the most models are scheduled to end on April 1, 2017. That means accessories like the Smart Keyboard can be used with 10.5-inch iPad Pro. Initially, Apple was said to launch new iPads at an event in March. After all, the device's rumored price, speculated at just $299, is unprecedented for an Apple tablet. The report further cites a post from Macotakara, which claims that the 9.7-inch iPad Pro 2 will still retain the same internal design.

Japanese blog Mac Otakara somewhat supports this suggestion, reporting that some Japanese analysts have predicted that a second-generation 9.7-inch iPad Pro will be unveiled next week.

Apple is expected to take the wraps off not one but four iPads soon, and that includes the anticipated 10.5-inch iPad Pro 2, which is arguably the most interesting out of the bunch. The fact that Apple has managed to shrunk down the top and bottom bezels will also make the upcoming tablet look very sleek.

In October, reports suggested that Apple would be launching its three new iPad devices in March 2017. The 9.7-inch iPad Pro model is estimated to be priced for as low as $299.

"You end up with a unit that's the same physical size as the 9.7 inch", Alexander said.
