Led by coach Dana Altman and All-American candidate Dillon Brooks, the Ducks are 31-5 and have won 10 of their last 11 games.
But Dorsey is one of the tournament's hottest players and Brooks is one of its best players, giving OR a duo as capable of making big shots with the game on the line as anybody left in the bracket.
Kuran Iverson opened the second half with a three-pointer before Jordan Bell scored for Oregon. Moritz Wagner led the way with a career-high 26 points. OR is now averaging 79.1 points per game on offense while giving up 65.7 on defense. Dorsey scored three points in a row for OR and freshman Keith Smith made two free throws before Dorsey converted a three-point play to get the Ducks within 58-52 with 11:55 to play. Rhode Island wanted to slow down and play the half-court game, while OR mostly ran with four guards. Terrell scored to put Rhode island up 66-60 before OR scored eight straight points. Stanford Robinson leads in steals with 1.2 per game.
Tied at 72 with 1:09 left. Unburdened by any inflated pointspreads due to their mediocrity for months, Danny Hurley's squad finally put it together down the stretch: 9-0 SU and 7-2 ATS in their last nine games; 13-2 SU and 11-4 ATS in their last 15. Brooks scored for OR before Langevine scored again. This game will take part in the Midwest Region and air on TBS from Golden 1 Center in Sacramento, California.
Dowtin scored to put Rhode Island back ahead before OR scored eight points in a row. Maybe the biggest negative was the lack of offensive aggressiveness, with the Rams shooting just eight free throws compared to 27 for Oregon.
Call it a total team effort, as the Rams shot 50.8 percent from the floor (30-of-59) compared to Oregon's 48.1 percent (25-of-52).
Terrell capped the half with a jumper.
