Samsung Galaxy S8 release date - Why UK users could face HUGE disappointment

Posted March 20, 2017

Now that we know the Samsung Galaxy S8 price, we can wait for the official event. In the meantime, we've seen a barrage of leaks and renders featuring the unannounced handsets.

The Galaxy S8+ will come at 899 Euros which is roughly Rs 63,500. Its off-centre placement - to the right of the camera sensor - could also favour right-handed users more than left-handed users. The general release date, on the other hand, has not yet been confirmed, although there are strong speculations that the devices will be available in the USA and Canada beginning April 28, according to a report from BGR. A DeX docking station will be retailed at €150, a GearVR headset will come with a price tag of €129 and a next-gen Gear360 camera would cost €229.

Those, from the reliable leaker Evan Blass, show that whatever color you get the phone in it will be black from the front, while these ones show the colors extending to the front bezels.

Citing sources familiar with the situation, Bloomberg reports that the Samsung Galaxy S8 device will enable facial recognition payments within months of going on sale. The home button may be embedded underneath the front glass panel.

Although the smartphones look identical, keep in mind that they vary in sizes as the Plus variant is expected to be significantly bigger than the smaller one. As far as photography is concerned, we are expecting these phones to house a 12MP dual-pixel rear camera based on Phase Detection Autofocus (PDAF). There are also reports suggesting that Samsung will also take the release date of LG G6.

A 3,000mAh battery is said to provide the juice for the standard variant whereas a 3,500mAh battery is expected to back the Plus variant.

As written in BGR, Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo believes that Samsung Galaxy S8 won't be as popular as Galaxy S7 due to a lack of compelling new features.
