Pique: I would have signed up for Deportivo defeat

Barcelona were in danger of being toppled from the top of La Liga standings on Sunday after they suffered a shock 2-1 defeat at lowly Deportivo La Coruna.

Barcelona still have 11 games to turnaround the situation but it looks Luis Enrique will have to think twice the next time he wants to rest Umtiti.

"Us professionals know how hard it is to attain each victory".

However, stats revealed that Samuel Umtiti's absence from the back-line was even more important for Luis Enrique's side as the France worldwide has become into the Catalan's real talisman since his summer arrival to the Nou Camp.

The results mean Barca's one-point lead at the top has become a two-point advantage for Madrid, who also hold a game in hand.

"There was enough time to recover and we were aware that the league game was coming", added the Uruguayan.

Barcelona were brought back down to earth with a thud as they lost 2-1 away to Deportivo La Coruna in LaLiga.

"That we are eight points clear of the drop zone is something that appeared unthinkable several weeks ago".

"But we didn't win and we have to congratulate Deportivo - they deserved it. We have to accept this defeat and remember there's a lot of games left".

Pique told reporters, "Everyone connected to Barcelona would have signed up to comeback against PSG and lose to Deportivo".

Barca defender Gerard Pique added: 'Sport is like this, we aren't machines and after the effort we made on Wednesday it was very hard to compete again.

Pique also tried to put the week in perspective.

But those heroics seemed to have taken it out of them and they missed Neymar, who scored two and assisted the other of the late goals against PSG. We have to have a very good run-in to fight for the title.
