Joey Logano wins Stage 1 at Phoenix

Clearly, we need the "I Love You" vehicle again. "What a gutsy call by Luke".

Next up for the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series is the final installment of the West Coast Swing with a trip to Auto Club Speedway for the Auto Club 400. He led 82 laps on the afternoon. The big story was how a problem for Logano meant Busch didn't get the win.

Ryan Newman won the Camping World 500 for his first win since 2013.

The first stage of the race was dominated by Logano. I've never had this speed this early in the year.

Kyle Busch, 31, won the Cup championship two years ago and isn't part of stock vehicle racing's Millennial Movement. On the final restart, Larson tried to make a move on Newman, but went sideways stacking up the field behind him giving Newman the advantage and the ultimate victory.

"We just haven't really qualified that well here lately at this particular race track", Haravick said. "There is not much you can do when the right front blows out".

The series of runner-up finishes gave Kyle Larson the Cup points lead, the first time Chip Ganassi Racing has led the points race this late in the season since 2002.

Logano had the fastest lap through two rounds, but the top 12 have to start from scratch and qualify in the third round. "I don't think he could get going as good as he wanted to".

In 2010, Busch donned a pink suit and matching livery covered in butterflies, rainbows and baby animals for a promotion Toyota was running to let fans design his vehicle. NASCAR executives have made it publicly clear that they don't want Busch to retaliate with his auto during a race.

With that in mind, Logano isn't sure if he got through to Busch.

Meanwhile, Larson must wait for his second victory on the top circuit (he won previous year in Brooklyn, Mich.) but he now leads the Monster Cup points standings.

Busch was cruising for his first win of the season before Logano had his tire issue.

Kyle Busch: he was stout in the final stage of the race, leading over 100 laps but was bit by that last caution.

When Custer came around during the caution flag, Dillon ran Custer's Ford into the wall and the yellow flag became a red flag with spilled fuel on the track.

Blown tires were a common sight on the hot pavement but Newman was able to negotiate the treacherous surface when it mattered most. Without any further adieu, here we go! "Just got to keep working hard". This sport. there's one guy that wins, 39 losers. You get loose again, and at that point that was it. He has 17 NASCAR wins, including last year's November race in Phoenix.

Blaney, 23, qualified in the No. 2 spot for the second week in a row. As he entered into lapped traffic, Kyle Larson inched closer and closer. "It is really tough to win one of these Cup races".

Average Speed of Race Winner: 104.271 miles per hour. FOX and Motor Racing Network will have live coverage next Sunday beginning at 3:30 p.m. EST.

Margin of Victory: 0.312 seconds.

The caution flew eight times for 45 laps.

Lead Changes: 15 among 8 drivers. With 122 laps remaining, he got by Larson for second.

Ryan Newman last won at Indianapolis in 2013. Ku.Busch, 105; 10. K.Kahne, 105; 11. Props to Suarez as well from coming up from the mid-20's at one point in the race.
