Middlesbrough chairman Steve Gibson Wants Guus Hiddink As New Manager

UNITED boss Jose Mourinho has revealed that he knows the names of the players who got Aitor Karanka the sack from Middlesbrough.

Assistant manager Agnew was handed the reins after Aitor Karanka was sacked by Middlesbrough on Thursday following a 10-game winless league run that saw the club slide down the table to 19th, three points from safety. I really enjoyed his work and his company during my two-and-a-half years working with him.

He added: "In the first year he arrived, the team was going into League One and he saved the team".

Jose Mourinho feels that Karanka's sacking was harsh and deserved more time. "I've said this for many years".

'In the second year, he took the team to Wembley to play the play-off final.

"In the third year, he had direct promotion".

Agnew took charge of Boro against Charlton Athletic last season when Karanka reportedly fell out with some of his playing staff and was absent for the game, and Gibson said the down-to-earth approach of Karanka's former number two is exactly what the club needs for their relegation fight.

Mourinho hit out at Premier League bosses for their scheduling of the Boro match so soon after the 1-0 win over the Russian side, with Paul Pogba, Daley Blind and Marcos Rojo all picking up injuries during that match.

"I'm capable of drip-feeding ideas into the group that will pay dividends", said Agnew. "If I do then I would go to Chelsea with a Nicky Butt team, like Manchester City did a couple of years ago, and I'd be here today with Pogba, [Antonio] Valencia, Rojo - everyone fresh".

'It will be a tough tough game, but one we're all looking forward to, ' he said. "It's not ideal the circumstances, but it's something I've always wanted to do, and I owe a lot to Middlesbrough". We can not do this.
