The Peace Corps has announced that Bowdoin College ranked No. 13 among small schools on the agency's 2016 Top Volunteer-Producing Colleges and Universities list.

This is the third year that Bowdoin has ranked among the top small schools, moving up from the No. 14 spot in 2016.

Peace Corps works with U-M to host two on-campus recruiters who share their personal experiences as volunteers and provide information about applying for service.

CU Boulder is ranked No. 11 in the nation (tied with the University of Oregon) for graduates serving as Peace Corps volunteers with 47 alumni now serving around the world, the Peace Corps announced today.

Daniel Lipkowitz '14, now serving as an environmental volunteer in Panama, says he believes Bowdoin played a significant role in preparing him for Peace Corps service. Below, find the top five schools in each category and the number of alumni now serving as Peace Corps volunteers. "I'm proud that UVM is on this list once again and honor the service and many accomplishments of our Peace Corps volunteers over the years".

"Peace Corps service is unique because unlike short-term volunteer trips overseas, volunteers can form strong friendships with host-country nationals and volunteer in a community long enough to make a sustainable impact". "In this way, we get to implement new strategies and activities, improve the general level of English teaching, and reach the greatest number of students".

William & Mary is one of the country's top producers of Peace Corps volunteers, according to a report released by the organization today. "It's embodied in their impressive contributions to communities around the world through programs like the Peace Corps".

"Colorado College taught me to think critically about global development and gave me the skills to research and understand the cultural and historic context that I was working in", says Boydston.

This year's rankings follow the launch of a refreshed brand platform that underscores the agency's commitment to putting the user experience first, making Peace Corps more accessible to audiences through the platforms it already uses.

"I have often considered Bowdoin's guiding obligation of promoting the common good a concept that both inspired my initial interest to join the Peace Corps and steered my thought process throughout my time as a volunteer", Lipkowitz said.
